Social systems and the metasystematic approach
In the paper a new approach to search of adequate gnoseological means for scientific understanding of the world not as an empire of chaos and uncertainty, but as a system of systems has been considered. A new concept – "metasystemic approach" has been introduced, the conclusion that systematic and metasystemic approaches are additional in sense of Bohr’s principle of complementarity has been substantiated. The metasystemic approach carries large methodological and heuristic potential which essentially expands potential of the systematic approach.

The long way to a temple
In the paper on the basis of the authors' method of social and political monitoring and prognostication, in the concrete problem situation bound with building of a mosque in Murmansk the authors have illustrated a methodological and heuristic potential of the metasystemic approach and its possibilities. The researches of the public opinion were held by the Murmansk sociological research and development centre "Razum" in 1999.

Social and philosophical analysis of social systems' transformation
The paper contains the review of the social systems' research fulfilled in the North-western Sociological Research Centre "Sotsium". The results of the first stage (1991-1999) were published in the monograph "Society and social interests: Metasystem approach". The metasystem approach is to be considered as a gnoseological means of social systems' transformation learning at the second stage.
