Study of the ground-level by РМ2.5 and PM10 suspended particles atmospheric air pollution and snow cover in Surgut using spectral indices

РМ2.5 and PM10 dust particles, which enter the atmosphere and penetrate the body through inhalation, pose a health hazard. This study aims to determine the amount of fine particles in the ground-level air in different functional zones of Surgut (Tyumen region) and to assess the possible relationship between РМ2.5 and PM10 levels and the spectral characteristics of snow cover. The author has measured the concentration of dust particles in the ground-level air, determined the spectral characteristics of snow cover using satellite data, and calculated indices. Based on the snow indices used to differentiate the city's functional zones, it has been found that snow is more polluted in the public, business, and industrial zones. This is explained by the high traffic intensity and the influence of industrial enterprises. It is in these zones that the highest concentration of suspended particles is determined.
