The primary production of the Barents Sea
Abstract. The paper presents an estimation of the contribution of all groups of autotrophic organisms: phytoplankton, macrophytes, microphytobenthos, and cryoflora, into the total primary production of the Barents Sea. The analysis has been carried out on the basis of integration of original and published data on the primary production in various areas of the Barents Sea, i.e. outer shelf zones and coastal waters of the Kola Peninsula, islands and archipelagos.
