Some questions of forming outwash plain in the upper Gren-fjord (West Spitsbergen)
Abstract. The results of studies of fluvioglacial relief in the upper Gren-Fjord (Spitsbergen) have been presented. This paper is based on the materials of the field work carried out in 2012-2013. The geomorphological studies of the area and the sampling of surface from the depth up to 20 cm have been produced; stratified sampling of specimens cut from the pit walls to a depth of one meter has been performed. In the laboratory conditions the grain size analysis of unconsolidated sediments samples has been carried out; the quartile coefficients: SО – coefficient of the sorting and SK – coefficient of the skewness have been calculated. The factors influenced on formation of the modern landscape in the region have been analyzed.
