Abstract. The paper considers environmental management, climatic conditions, strategy and technologies of exploration and exploitation on the Arctic waters of five countries (Russia, Norway, Denmark, Canada and the United States). Some recommendations on the strategic directions of development of the oil and gas industry in Russia on land and water areas have been given.
