The image of the demiurge and cultural hero in African mythology
Abstract. The paper considers the symbolic value of the image of the snake in the mythology of Tropical and South Africa as a demiurge and cultural hero. Snake is a totem-ancestor of many African tribes, as well as a symbol of the universe, life and death, power, and reincarnation.
