Abstract. The problem of forming a new system of global and regional security in the Arctic has been analyzed. The methodological approaches to forecasting the evolution of the national security system in the Arctic taking into account specific strategic, mainly geo-economic interests of the major geopolitical players have been justified. It has been shown that with all the divergence of the geo-economic and geopolitical interests of various countries there are grounds for reducing the risk of deployment of geopolitical confrontation in the region and stimulating development of cooperation in the field of security in the Arctic. The Ministry of Emergency Situations position in understanding of basic directions of the practical implementation of development objectives and improvement of the comprehensive security of the Russian Arctic has been determined.
