Abstract. In the paper on the basis of the authors' method of social and political monitoring and prognostication, in the concrete problem situation bound with building of a mosque in Murmansk the authors have illustrated a methodological and heuristic potential of the metasystemic approach and its possibilities. The researches of the public opinion were held by the Murmansk sociological research and development centre "Razum" in 1999.
