Prospects of Placer Deposits on the Baltic Shield
Abstract. In the paper there are examined principal geodynamic and palaeogeographic factors for bounding possibilities of placer formation on the Baltic shield: mobilization of small amount of clastic material in the zone of hypergenesis, poor prevalence and a safety of weathering bedrock products, shield uplift tendency and ice sheet activity. Authors have come to the conclusion about possibilities of diamond placer formation in the Kola Peninsula south-east part and adjoining area of the White Sea.
