Age aspects of plant adaptation in harsh environmental conditions
Abstract. Further development of the theory of plant cyclic senescence and juvenilization created by a Russian botanist N.P. Krenke has been discussed on the basis of modern ideas of oxidative stress, and photosynthetic structures' hierarchy. The authors have proposed that specificity of interrelations between modifications of structures differentiated by their level of organization plays a key role in delay of senescence stipulated by harsh environmental conditions.
