Application of physical rock properties to the solution of a complex geophysical task
Abstract. The paper reports the possibility of finding prospective energy sources in the Riphean and Phanerozoic sedimentations of the "coast-sea" transition zone, which needs more profound geological-geophysical research. Updated geophysical methods should be applied for exploring the whole transition zone. The proper sequence of the geophysical works can be defined on the preliminary stage of dividing the area considering earlier planned factors of forecasting. Essential for exploring the prospective transition and water areas are preparation of the drilling project and determining the location of the stratigraphic well in the Rybachiy Peninsula. The respective investigations revealed the transition zone and NE area of the Varanger-Timan fractured-folded belt being promising for hydrocarbon. Besides, the possibility to study the interaction of active fluid igneous and tectonic geosystems and measure their role in formation processes of oil and gas deposits and regularity of their occurrence has been determined.
