Abstract. The paper considers the memoirs of A. Bely and the hermeneutical method used by him for interpretation of facts and historical events. This sight shows the main dilemma of hermeneutics between "inclusion" and "distance" of the author while interpreting something. A. Bely shows preference for the role of person in history and symbols of culture.
